Hi List,
I've been given a task that involves expanding a given
town centre (polyline) 300m (roughly) outwards...In
effect, making the town centre bigger. Is there any
software or method that doesn't involve manually
moving the nodes? I know creating a bigger town centre

Nope because they want the exact shape of the town

Hi List,
It seems as though I wasn't too clear (not the first
time ;) on what I needed. The object buffer command
makes a *rough* shape 300m around the object, but the
people who want this want a EXACT replica (only
bigger) of the town centre (the town centre is an
incredibly complex looking shap

Hi Ben,
You can accomplish it using MIF, but it's not a straight-forward task, so you need to
do it exactly as described.
1. Select the object(s), and export the selection to MIF
2. Add a TRANSFORM line in the MIF file, set translation to the negative expansion
point, and set scaling to

Andre,
I don't see that MapInfo (v 6.5) supports times; only dates. If this is the
case, then you will need to convert the field type in MS Access. If you
convert the field to string, then keep in mind that if sorted, you may not
acheive the desired results. For example 10:30 would be sorted b

Whilst agreeing with everything you put forth, I have been in the GIS
