Usually I use "save window as" and then pick windows metafile (wmf). This
retains map resolution as well as keeps labels in a good shape, even if
resized. Of course if your applications and/or clients can work with wmf.

Greeting List,
URGENT !!
This is my third attempt at the following question:
Can MapInfo hook up to Teradata tables? How? There is no MapInfo-supplied
ODBC driver.
I asked in June 2001, and in September 2002. The response to both was a
staggering NOTHING. Not even one email or posting referring
Hello Alex,
I know nothing about Teradata, but it took 3 seconds to find the following
on Google while searching for "Teradata ODBC driver".

Hellow James
First of all, I'd ask you to explain better your problem. I've deduced that
your information is something like this:

When you said MI only performs joins on base tables, you hit the nail on the
head. You have to take your OwnerMeterLink table and perform a Save Copy

distinguish it from the named query created by the Into Table Named part of

Dear all,
I need some product advice with vertical mapper.
As Northwood who produce VM has been taken over by Marconi, and Marconi has
not had the best track record over the last 12 months, there is a rumour
going round that there is no support being offered for VM products. This

Nick,
My impression is that Marconi is still offering Vertical Mapper
for sale, but they are not doing anything new with it and support
for it is not so great these days. Unless things change at
Marconi, I'd say Vertical Mapper is at a dead end.
For a replacement, you might take a look at Golden

Does MapBasic not have the capability to do

We intend to create a cartogram based on some of the New Zealand 2001 Census
data that is in MI format.
It would save me a lot of tedious manual click and drag scaling using the
trusty eyeometer if somebody has a .mbx that will scale a selected region by
allowing you to key-in an area value, while
I used Surfer 6.0 in a previous life. I also purchased Surflink, which passed data
back and forth between
MapInfo and Surfer quite easily. I found surfer powerful and easy to use. I didn't
do much with it's cartographic
capabilities, mostly crunching data. The company that marketed Surflink
Hello Fellow Listers,
Does anyone have any ideas of how to thematically color labels other than
importing the table multiple times?
Thanks in advance
I use Surfer 8.0 everday. Unfortunately, the export to MIF does not work
properly. Not all contours, text and colors are drawn in the export
process.
I use Surfer to calculate trends and residuals on geologic formations then
bring the calculated surfer grid into MapInfo to let Vertical Mapper con
Hi All,
Does anyone know of a tool that will check an intersection to dertime if the
end nodes are snapped together or not? I have a bunch of street
intersections that are not properly snapped and would like to be able to
select them and correct the problem. TIA.
Steve
Woody, Renee and other Listers,
thanks for the responses. They all sort of cover ground I have been over.
Most of the replies center around having to save/commit an intermediate query and
reopening it during the session, or geocode the Excel file. This, I can do no problem.
But its not a live li
Take a look at Discover by Encom Tech. It work within MI and has gridding tools.
Worth a try.

Yup they have a new version (5.0) out that looks like has some real nice
gridding functions - lots of new grid filters too!!
I use 4.0 and its a pretty nice package - especially if you are also into
editing linework and polygons.

Listers,
I am attempting to develop workspaces that would do a drill down

I want to develop this so that, a MIPro Viewer user, can open up the
top level workspace (Country) and dr

I was wondering if it is possible to retrieve the date portion of the file's
date stamp? I wish to do this within a MapBasic application which reads a

way to read the time stamp that is created when the file is first made. H
Hey people,

i have a decent skill base in these aspects, but i'm looking for advanced
