Catherine,
hi..
1.8 million is a lot and i am not sure whether it is do-able (i rarely get
beyond 0.5 million points in my work... i hope that someone from Marconi
will contact you .. northwood certainly used to be V good at watching this

We managed to generate a DTM and 3D map just within MapInfo v7
(utilising the VM routines) on 6 300 000 points - it took a few hours
but impressed by the fact that it worked!!
All I can offer is: I haven't reached a limit yet.

A often seen problem is that there among your points are some located at
(0,0). If this is the case the grid VM is supposed to create is simply to
huge.

Hello,
We digitize hardcopy drawings with mapinfo 6 with a Kurta(Altek)
digitizing tablet. On a bad day virtual tablet is losing its focus on
mapinfo every 15 minutes or so. Our way to solve this is to set the tablet
manager on mapinfo again but this becomes an annoying error.

I doubt you can expect to get much support from them any time in the

I suspect you are right and this is a real shame because VM really used to

It handles 11X17 and costs about $500.00. Get plenty of ink, though,

I do something similar to what the others have proposed, writing the date into a
hidden file somewhere,
but I also come up with a sort of encryption for the date. I change the numbers into
something that
doesn't appear to be a date at all by adding numbers, converting it to ascii
characters or

Ideally, I would like political boundaries, topography, roads and rail,

Cost is not important.

Thanks to all those who replied. Decided to go for the 4600dn - offers
duplex printing, and the optional hard drive.

Hello Anthony,
I'm assuming that your times do not have dates associated so you don't need
to handle cross-midnight issues. I recommend saving a copy of your data
before you update fields, especially original ones.
I would suggest the best way of handling this is to add a new integer column
