Problem fixed!
I just got an answer from MI Support Europe that solves the problem.
My concern was MI Pro so I have not tested the MapX fix.

Hi,
While saving a street table in MapInfo 7.0 (under Win2000), the following message
appears :

and MapInfo immediately reverts the recent edits. What is the problem and how can we
avoid this situation?
Any help will be appreciated.
Cameron,
I remember when we converted a number of integrated mapping applications
from VB4 to VB6, the project type had to be changed to an ActiveX exe. As
far as I can remember, the major difference between standard and ActiveX
projects is that the latter allow communication by COM (which is
One route I've explored with some success is to put the VB/Mapinfo
interaction into an ActiveX exe by itself. You can then put as much or
little in the interface as you want and then include it into a standard exe.
The interface can be as simple as a mapping to the standard Do and Eval
methods,

A question about / problem with windows XP and MapInfo 7.0:
I made an application linking the program ACT to MapInfo. Act is used to register

Not just with the screen savers either.
They reappear with different names.
It is sad...if we can't do anything about it, I may have to remove myself
from the list in order to avoid the crap emails.

I guess I'm not so sure why I need to have it as a standard exe other than I don't
want people thinking they can use it in another program. I have changed it back to an
ActiveX exe and it works fine, but like I said I have other apps which are standard
using the same
class, but are working. I

Hi Ben,
You can use the OpenSource library called MITab. It reads and writes TAB and MIF
datasets directly.
After some work in the fall, a DLL version was included that was usable from both VB
and MapBasic (which the original wasn't).
You find MITab here:
Hello Javier,
(Internal) table names cannot start with a number. If you prefix with, say,
an underscore, your create table statement should work.
snombre = _37

Hi,
I too quickly deleted the Hanging Chad Gore joke from last week. Would
someone mind sending it along to me if you still have it. I thought hanging
chads were passe, but I've got a pal who'd just love to see it.
Thanks,

Hello, all,
I'm looking for bank and ATM locations in the UK. Already geocoded would be great. I'm
a bit ignorant of the availability of any such data, so I appreciate your guidance...
Also, I'd be interested in some political boundaries for the same, and later some
street data for the cities.
I tried to do each of the two suggestions below (given what I think you
meant), but still have the same issue. It is entirely possible that I am
missing a piece. Would it be possible for you to provide specific
instructions for this configuration in either case.
I'm hoping that the message we

Hi Erin,
We have a range of POI data sets which are mostly targeted at the LBS
market. Some data sets are built in-house while others are enhancements of
raw data licensed from 3rd parties. I will check on the bank and ATM
databases (which are separate but linked) and send you some information.
Hi,
Does anyone know of any COM-based geocode software that can create custom
address dictionaries from TAB based street files?
I have used MapMarker for a number of years but the licensing requirements
for my new application are pretty onerous. So I am looking for an
alternative. I have a

But first make sure it's really from hotmail. Most spams are forged, but
if you read the Received: headers from bottom to top, you can trace the

Hi Erin,
I have this data through a 3rd party. Full information and geocoded. 6,400

We also have a wide range of other POIs, as well as our 4.6 million

I have found that this function is very slow if the tables are of a different

I had a program that took more than one day to do a join when the two tables were

projection...
