Hello,
I ask two question :
1) What is the capacity of MapInfo on a one layer. (For intansce have 1,000,000
polygon in one layer, MapInfo does support?)
2) I want to add MapInfo menu as file. Add menu run to Visual Basic exe. Is it
possible? If possible what can I do?
Thanks.

Hi,
The upper limit is 2 GB for TAB files. With 1 million polygons, that
leaves appr. 2000 bytes per polygon, which is sufficient if your
polygons doesn't have too many vertices. As many as 100 vertices per
polygon may be possible, but try it first with some sample data of
yours.
Kind regards
And what about grid size limitation - does someone know what is the limit
for MIG files? I found out that MI is unable to open large grids (tens of
MB in size).

MapInfo should definitely open a grid with up to 2^16 rows or 2^16 columns, but I'm
not brave enough to try and create a grid with 2^16 rows _and_ 2^16 columns (ie. 4 x
10^9 cells for a size of 8GB++).
Beyond that you may run into problems depending on the grid format being used,

Hi again
Thanks for all the answers but I found the solution I was looking for myself...
I have created a new tab file calling my original file - works like a mini workspace...

With MI6.5, a MIG file created by the Grid thematic tool reveals strange
things. If MI uses the xmin, ymax as the anchor point for the MIG (upper
left corner) the outer point is the multiple in number of cells just above
the observed xmax and below ymin from the anchor point. The first strange
I guess the downside of this mini workspace is that you'll always get two windows
with your table. This will also be the case if you select Into current ampper when
you open the table. Isn't that correct ?
But then again if this solves your problem...
But using tables as mini workspaces sure
Hello guys and gals,
How do I change a georeferenced .tif file into a raster grid that will be
recognized by Vertical Mapper? I am using MI 7.0 and VM 3.0. The .tif is
an ASTER band that I wish to reclassify in MI to bring out features such as
water, roads, etc.
Oh also along those lines -

Hello Josh,
you can try to do this through Grid Analyser and windows bitmap. GA is
able to import and decomposed registered or NOT registered bmp into MI
grid file(BMPRGB and/or HSV and/or CMYK and/or Grayscale). These grids
can be queried (reclassificated) in order to bring out requested
Hello listers, I've had this problem before, solved it, and now I can't
find any code to cut and paste into my new app so I have to ask the
question again. How do you use the Run Command command to use the Fetch
command properly when you have your table and column names in variables?
My code now
You should use the Alias variable to hold the table and column name.
And you should also use the below mentioned syntax when looping. In this way you won't
get into trouble if you have deleted records in the table.
Dim tab_name, col_Name, col_val As String,
Greetings List,
Does anybody know how I can configure WMS in Mapinfo 7.5 to go through a firewall.
When behind a firewall and I select File Open WMS Mapinfo just sits there for
what seems like an eternity before coming back with the WMS dialog box.
When not behind a firewall the WMS dialog
Peter,
If your Proxy or Firewall requires authentication, the WMS client won't
work. It uses whatever setting Internet Explorer has set.
I could be wrong on this next bit, but I understand that it uses a standard
HTTP request and uses on TCP Port 80 (if one isn't define in your proxy
settings),

Yes, no problem so far. If you use HahtSite you have to register
hsrun.exe under the Web Service Extensions of IIS.
