One question would be whether or not you are doing a lot of queries before updating. You might have exceeded the 1 file limit in the temp folder for .tmp files. I have had a similar error except I was told that I did not have enough memory and the program crashed. I don't know if this is

Have received exact same message using runtime conjoined with third party software, couldn't solve it. Hard drive had 48% space left. Had a few ideas that we might have had some corrupt windows dll's, you could try updating you OS with the latest patch. Am very interested in anyones results
