In the past I've created some new lines styles using the line style editor
provided by MapInfo. The other day I realised that I hadn't updated the
line styles after I'd upgraded to MI v7.8. So I copied my custom line style
file replacing the default MapInfow.PEN file installed when I upgraded.
Hi,
I've converted some gigabytes of tables to a different coordsys. However,
there are some of the tables that are mappable Access tables. When they are
converted using 'Save copy as' with coordsys clause, they are being saved as
native MI tables.
1. Is it possible to identify an Access table
I have placed recently on our some updated applications:
Reg2Plin32.zip and Plin2Reg11.zip (conversion of a region table into unique
polyline segments and back into regions) had a problem with the call to the
menu into which it was installed (Tools replaced by ID 4). That change would

Hello,
I am trying to update a column with text. I need the text to be repeated
through all the rows of the table. There is however already text in the
column in different rows, some rows are blank others are not. I have tried
to use Table Update Columns... then in the value section I entered
Hi,

Hi Everyone:
When I import an Excel worksheet as a table into MapInfo (to geocode, for
example), I find that I cannot edit the records (it becomes read-only). In
order to edit any records, add or eliminate, I have to copy as something
else. However, if I create a new table or import from Access,
Hi everyone,
I have just started using MapInfo, so very new to the program, but do have
experience with other GIS software. I have selected the BC polygon data from a
Canadawide dataset in a query. I saved the query, but it will only display
when the Canada table is open to query from. Does
I would like to create a rapid transit network for Chicago with lines
connecting the stations and the distance between successive stations
measured. Each station should be a node. I have the x and y
coordinates of each station. There are multiple lines and some
stations serve more than one
Hi Ali,
Yes, this is normal. Excel files are readonly in MapInfo - Access
databases can be opened and edited on the other hand.
Kind regards

Hello Richard,
Specify your needs / requirements for the modelling and it will probably
be easier to give some advice on where to go. What kind of problem are
you trying to solve? It is probably not just making a nice-looking map.
Kind regards

I intend to model the travel patterns of offenders from home to incident.
It is an application of standard transportation models to crime patterns.
It is part of the next version of CrimeStat which should be released soon.
I have maps of surface streets and expressways. However, as many
OK, I am not sure what you'd call this, but is there a simple MBX kicking
about that will 'explode' a file into one new file per record/object? So if
you have one file - a layer of 50 regions and you need a separate TAB file
per region, would want to automatically 'save copy as.' for each record
Will,
This is a function in Data Assistant, an evaluation version of which is
available on our website.
Your table is not restrictedd to regions ... it can be any spatial object in
MapInfo. The table name is based on the unique value of the associated
record. Assign a rowid if you want one
Hello Christine,
Use the File Save Copy As command instead. This will give you a new
table, that has no relationship with the full table.
If you want a file, that both opens the full table and selects the BC
polygon, you will have to create a workspace like this:
!Workspace
!Version 600
