mapinfo has a very good price performance compared to other products on
the market. mi+publisher cost still less then arcgis. and 98% of our
clients using over 2000 licenses are pretty happy with mapinfo as it
is. and 1000 USD is not an issue if it really helps ... and there are

The limitation with this is that it will not produce the characters st,nd,rd,th

The other thing is that there will always be a horizontal line separator.
I saw these as specifications =/

Listers,
I'm new to MapInfo and I have a digitized roads layer

Use the following command instead in the MapBasic Window
Update Roads Set OBJ = (CreateLine(x1,y1,x2,y2))
This will update the hidden MI obj field which contain the map object

Using Insert adds, using Update... u updates =)
Greetings List,
Would anybody have a copy of SuperWor.mbx. I beleive it is a utility
that embeds the current date into workspace files.
or would anybody have a utility to format the date into the following

Hi All,
Hope someone can help with this.
I am moving MapInfo Pro 7.8 from one desktop with SQL server to a new desktop.
Install worked fine. Created a connection to the database on our SQL Server.
Still appears to be going O.K. Then the problem.
I can open tables from the database and I
Hello,
Have you tried to install a printer that supports EPS output and send
MapInfo's printing to this printer?
If I recall well, this format is recognized by some graphic design
softwares out there (like Corel or Macromedia Fireworks). Maybe the

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to geocode some records that have a street address and 6 digit
postal code. The street network I am geocoding to only has a 3-digit postal
code though. It's for all of BC so obviously there are a lot of repeat street
names. Is there any way to specify to look first fo
Frankly, given the cost of a MapInfo licence, I don't see why I should pay
about 1000 dollars , only in order to export the map to imaging and
publishing softwares. The Adobe suite are the main tool of our publishing
desk (as in most cases) and I need an easy way to export files for them.

I think there is a need to find a better solution to export MapInfo
layouts in vector format. As is, there is only one possibility to export
vector files to publishing and imaging softwares : through Microsoft's
wmf format.
I don't know whether you can import pdf documents in vector based ima
To extract start and end points of polylines you should use the
ObjectNodeX(obj, segment, node) and ObjectNodeY(obj, segment, node) functions
This will only work for single segment polylines as there is no (easy) way you
can tell which is the start/end point on multi segment polylines:

Amanda, to join two tables, you need to have one column in each table that
has similar data that MapInfo can join on. You have to select the names
of the two columns - one in each table. If the data isn't quite the same
you may be able to create an expression to match it

Neil,
This tool might be of use -
http://www.directionsmag.com/files/index.php/view/535 - it extracts nodes
from polylines and saves them into a table of points.
