MapInfo added support for JPEG2000 in MapInfo 7.0, so you should be able to read these filetypes. The problem can be to get the files orientated. Normally MapInfo requires a tab-fil that will hold the orientation information including the projection. But MapInfo can also create this tab file from

You should be able to open them with the free v7 of JPEG2000/ ECW Viewer from Earth Resource Mapping. It's downloadable in the usual place. I'm not sure how that will translate to opening the .JP2's in MI Pro, though - I haven't looked lately to see if the ECW DLL designed specifically for MapInf
