[MI-L] MapInfo Tab failure when going SHape->TAB

2006-10-02 Thread Dale Lutz
Hi Christine,   I agree with you that the most likely problems is the record length issue.   One way to deal with it would be to open the DBF file related to the shape file in a program like Excel, and then delete columns you don’t care about (and you could verify that there are lots of

Thanks to those who replied to my problem!  Turns out the attribute fields were too large as most of the fields were a character length of 254.  I took out many fields and adjusted the rest to make sure the file was small enough to translate and it worked perfectly.  Thanks again   Christine

Christine, There may be some database table fields that are greater in length than 254 characters. Also, you mave have too many fields that are of 254 characters. I receive files like this all of the time, the way to get them to work is to restructure the .DBF file included with the shape file

Peter and others, The DLL function names are parsed like all MapBasic identifiers and therefore must be 31 characters or less.  Using the MapBasic "alias" is not a solution. If you do have access to the DLL source or can even just relink it, you can use a .DEF file to provide aliases for the ac

We have a standard workspace that we use in the field with Blue Marble Graphics Geographic Traker. We collect polyline information & store it in the same table name. Since we have multiple users, I end up with all sorts of line styles & colors or someone forgets to select the correct table.

There is a very devious way to do it. First, you must have MapInfo v7 or +. Second, you must extract the icon as a BMP (via Resource Hacker for example). Third, the bmp must be registered as a TAB. Fourth you must include in your code a dialog handler to display the icon. Fifth, you should restor
