I reduced the records first to 40K. Switched to a different machine. It ran overnight and was finished before morning. I don't know if: A. The machine made a difference or B. If the progress bar was really accurate since I stopped the mbx before it finished. I believe we are going to use M

Hi Tom! The shape file format is not designed to retain map styles (or coordinate system info for that matter). Therefore, it is not even in theory possible to transfer the native styles of MapInfo objects to a shape file. However, when ESRI discovered that people were using shape files for GIS
