I've been tasked with doing a "discovery effort." My
company is looking for a PC based GIS system / data that will help design
Microwave communications systems.
One of the challanges in
Microwave design is that the designer must know about all potential 3D
obstructions...
I have some applications where I need to
load Tiger Data along with the StreetInfo data that we purchased from our
MapInfo dealer.
When I compare the two for example
I-25 in Denver in both databases, there is a variance of up to 200 feet (I-25/Tiger
Data from I-25 StreetInfo Data).
I have MapInfo Pro v. 7.5
I have a database with two sets of longitude/latitudes (an A location
and a Z location for each circuit).
I want to create a polyline between those two locations. I BELIEVE that
I can use Connect the Dots to accomplish this... but I'm not exactly
sure how...
Can

Another basic question from
me
I have been able to open and use Geo-Referenced TIF files
with my Map Info7.5.
BUT it seems like when the TIF files have an accompanying
TFW file, I cannot get the TIF
togeo-reference.
How do I open them? What am I doing
wrong?
Thanks!
Title: Selecting records at random.
This is probably a simple question.
How do I convert / translate DGN formatted
data for Map Info?
Thanks!

Have you tried Universal Translator? Note that in the
drop down list of supported formats,DGN is not listed as a
file type, but rather as Intergraph/Microstation Design.

I don't know why, but sometimes when I merely open a .shp file, I can't
SEE the data, using the Universal Translator seems to work a lot better for
me!

I am trying to convert the Long/Lat coordinates from DMS to
Decimal.
I have the data set up in
dd,mm,ss and am trying to use the convert tool in MapInfo 7.5.
When I run the converter,
the column where the decimal Long or Lat is supposed to go comes up with a
decimal number
Im trying to import TOPO maps (MRSid format) into MapInfo.
The sources FAQs say that
the projection is Decimal Degrees Im not sure what
that is telling me relative to the projection Options in MI
The metadata mentions UTM Zone 13 (NAD 27)
When I use that projection I get
Im sure this is a pretty elementary question
none-the-less.
When I try to convert an Arc Export E00 file using
the MI Universal Translater Tool (MI ver 7.8). I get a blank
screen. I check at the display within range to make sure
the data is not filtered nothing there.
I look at the
Thank you for your help. It seems
that projection was my problem.
Thanks Again!

I'm using Universal Translator to transfer ERSI SHP data to MapInfo
The data I'm using tells me that the projection is:

Units METERS
Datum HPGN
Spheroid GRS1980
1st standard parallel 24 0 0.000
2nd standard parallel 31 30 0.000

All of the FGDL data is in the following projection:

Units METERS
Datum HPGN
Spheroid GRS1980
1st standard parallel 24 0 0.000
2nd standard parallel
I save those type of files as a .dbf file from MapInfo. Since Excel can
read .dbf files I just open it in Excel... and save it as an .xls file
from there...
I'm not sure of any other way to save it DIRECTLY from MapInfo to
Excel...

I need to track some telecommunications circuits for a project I'm
working on. I don't need to track the actual route, but rather same two
points as a single entity and have MapInfo generate a line between them.
A Typical database entry will have a code and long/lat for the A
Location and for
15 matches
