You can set/modify which directories MapInfo automatically uses to search
for Tables, Workspace etc
Go to : Option>Preferences>Directories>Modify

THOUGHT FOR THE D
According to Mapinfo's literature, Mapinfo Professional 7.0 has the ability
to open ESRI Shapefiles directly from the Open dialog display!
I'm curious as to how well this actually works?
Any feedback would be gratefully appreciated.

As far as I know Mapinfo does not have a program similar to ArcPad, but
there is a translater available that maybe of interest to you.

One option would be to convert your labels to text (using Labeler.mbx) and
save them as separate text layer.
This would later allow you to move, rotate and save multiple pieces of text
at any one time.
Just a thought!

If you are using MI 6.0 or later, I would suggest that you convert the
Mapinfo table to a Esri Shapefile using the Universal Translator before
shipping it to the Esri people. You wouldn't want to confuse them by
sending a Tab file! :-)

There is an mbx file called DMSCNVRT.MBX, but I can't remember if it comes
with the Tool Manager in Mapinfo 6.0 or if I got it online somewhere.
Anyway, I think it's what you are looking forso check your Tools
folder.

As far as I can tell, MI orders the tables in the dropdown list on the FIND
dialogue box in the order in which you opened the tables. Of course, the
only tables listed in the Find dropdown list are those that have at least
one indexed field.

One way to handle this would be to make the top polygon transparent by
using the Region Style function. Select Region Style from the Options Menu,
set the region style as a hatch pattern and give it a distinctive color.
Then uncheck the Background box that eliminates any background shading a

I'm going to assume that you created the Graph by opening a New Graph
Window!
To add labels for each value, select the Graph menu - General Options -
Data Labels and then set the label location.

Try Tools>Tool Manager>Polybrk.mbx.
This will break your Polyline into individual segments at each node.

Are you saying that the file/layer cannot be edited (as in Layer Control
editable box is grey and cannot be selected?) If this is the case then save
the file under a different name and make it editable, then remove the
unwanted line and polygon.
