I've got a MapBasic program which selects data from two tables and combines it. Then
it tries to commit the selected table under a different name.
Whenever I run the program the variables are all initialised correctly but it causes
MapInfo to crash on, or around, the commit table statement. I'v
am.
Does anyone know a way round this.
In case it matters the module its in is about 70KB.

Is there any way to select a folder in the same way as the fileopendlg function works.
ie. Without having to code a seperate dialog window.

If you just replace "C:\Program Files" with "" as shown below:
newdir = selectdirectory1("my caption","")
Then it allows you to browse different projects. The reason it wasn't letting you
browse them before was because the second parametre restricts the area of browsing and
providing a blank
Hi all
Does anyone have a program/code sample that positions labels for point objects at
sensible positions. ie. Spreads them out and puts label lines that don't overlap in.
Maybe even stops them from overlapping other tables though that's not necessary.

Another way which might provide better security would be to use either xml or a
database file if they're supported in MapBasic because both of these have built
in security and using the database would make it very easy to edit the user
lists whilst keeping the security restrictions.

Hi again
Firstly thanks for the help with the seamless tables.
Secondly does anyone know of a good program for labelling layers in MapInfo.
I'm looking for something that can cope with arround 1000 labels on a single
map and will generate best positions for them so that they and their labell
Hi guys
Thanks for the ideas on the two possible pay to use tools (Label-Ez and
MapText). I'm feeling a little stingy today and was therefore hoping there
might be a free thing somewhere out there which doesn't have all the features.
Does anyone know of one?

Hi List
I've got two MapInfo points tables and I wish to select all pairs where an
object from one table is within 100m of an object in the other table. Can
someone tell me the SQL syntax for doing this?
Thanks

This sounds to me like a job for a basic route planning algorithm. I've used
these in java before and some (for example A* algorithm) are very easy to
implement. Basically they are usually used to find a route between two

Hi List
Does anyone know what the limits are for the size of files (specifically interested in asc grid files being converted to tabs) for mapinfo and vertical mapper (either in terms of number of points or file sizes)?

You could try writing a little mapbasic program that you use instead of the open file command. Then each time the file requiring auditing is opened you could update another table with the date, time and username (accessible through windows api) of the person editing the file.
