MI-L ArcView .REX files

I'm guessing *.REX files are ArcView's version of raster or grid files. I
have MapInfo 7.5 and Vertical Mapper 3.1, but can't figure out how to open
an ESRI file with this format (it has the SHP/SHX files too).

Help!
