Forest, I don't know if it's a "bug" or not but the simple way to overcome it is to "kick it in the guts" before you do an update - change the projection of the map to something weird (like one of the Belgian systems or something similar) then back to the one you want. It then works perfectly until the next time you fire MI up again. the change to map projection (Map|Options|Projection command) doesn't do anything to the table.
