Hi all, Thanks for all the suggestions, but nothing seems to work. I know my syntax is correct now, but the same message "Cannot perform this operation on field Elective_vs__Urgent".
I looked up in MapInfo Help menu and tables that have been grouped can't be updated, so I queried from the original table without grouping and still same result. The only other thing I can think of is that you can't update Excel tables. This data did originally come from an excel format, but I queried the data to get a subset which I saved as a MapInfo table. Does this somehow still read as an Excel table and that's why it won't update? I'm going to export the table into excel and update the fields because I've spent way too much time on this, but I would like to know for the future! Currently, I use ... Select * From BaseLayer Where obj Within ClipRegion Into ResultSet ... as some kind of clipping my BaseLayer. But this query is not correctly saved to the workspace. Any idea how to rewrite this query using "Run Command" ?
