We are currently using and have been using with much success a HP5000PS with
256mb of memory and 10 gig hard drive. This printer does almost everything
we ask of it and works almost flawless with MapInfo 6.0 and 6.5 (have yet to
test 7.0).

It will print A0 size aerial imagery and detailed street mapping without a
problem. I can highly recommend it, especially if you can get the 90 metre
(300 foot) rolls! It seems like you never have to change the paper. Also,
the large capacity ink system mean that we have not had to change an ink
cartridge for over 6 months!

As far a size of plots we have sent to this beast, our record is 1.1 gig in
size and the plotter did not even stutter!

Good luck!

Subject: MI-L HP Plotter Printers!

I am looking to purchase a new plotter printer for our company and I was
hoping for some input. I have been having problems printing to our current
plotter for some time. I have tried two different HP 755 printers,
different drivers, internal handling, and still I have some issues
remaining. When I try to print a map that contains street level, or major
road, data out of Streetpro, I cannot seem to get the file to print. On the
one printer it will say processing, and if I let it go it will say that for
24 hours and not print a thing. On the other plotter (with more memory) It
will print over half of the map and then display an out of memory message,
and will not finish printing correctly. I am wondering what you are all
using in order to print large scale maps, and still be able to include,
street level data accurately with no problems. I am looking at the HP 500,
800, 500PS, 800PS specifically, but would be up for any suggestions you
could give me even on other printers, especially if they could save us some
money. Thank You!
