Did this several years ago, I believe I accepted the defaults and it worked
fine, but open the map you want, go to File>Export and set the export
parameters you want, choose the projection, no collar/collar (that's the
printed stuff around the map), all or a portion of the map, the dpi, etc.
There's even a reset default parameters button to bail you out if need be.
As far as expediency goes, I don't know if you can batch it, I did each map
separately, not a big chore for a township.  That same data is now free on
our states web site, bye bye $400.  The cool thing about terrain is the
elevation profiles it generates, great for view sheds and sewer topography,
but that functionality doesn't come through to MI.  I have also used it with
my lap top and GPS in the truck on camping trips.
