Are you able to connect to the WMS using another application? It sounds like it might
be the XML file showing the WMS capabilities is not well-formed and thus generating an
error in MapInfo.

Are you tring to go through a proxy server of some kind??
I have had problems going through proxy servers, and also some WMS
servers don't like MapInfo.
