If I recall correctly a 32-bit application can only see 32-bit ODBC sources, so
you must use the 32-bit ODBC utility (C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe) to
define the source. I have this scenario on my 64-bit Vista workstation. From
Access 2007 I can only see the 32-bit version of my Oracle ODBC
If I understand your question correctly you are attempting to do something
similar to what I have where I am coloring polygons in a shapefile based on a
numeric value stored in a frequently-updated CSV-file. As long as you have a
field in both files that you can join on it ought to work.

every time I try to query a dataset in PostGIS but works fine (but too slow)
when using shapefiles, but I'll leave that for a later time.
I am currently using the MS4W beta from earlier this autumn, version 3 I think.
It shipped with MS 5.4.2, but I have updated the to the RC
on this subject.
