We installed ms4w 2.3.0 ... seems to work (shows SDE with ogrinfo, still
fiddling with the connection). I think the problem we had, was related
to msw4w 2.3.1 having the gdal/ogr dlls not compiled for gdal 1.6 as all
the rest ... as the client has SDE 9.0

accessing SDE raster the way it was documented on the MS4W site; I had
to use CONNECTIONTYPE PLUGIN...

I've downloaded the ms4w mapserver 5.4 beta 1 update but it appears that the
Oracle 10g libmap.dll is compiled for a different version of gdal (v 1.5)
than the version in ms4w 2.3.1 (v 1.6). It works fine with the non Oracle 10g
libmap.

i now got mapserver 5.2 and 4.8:
i thought 5.2 had native built-in support for oracle 10, but it is
giving me "OracleSpatial is not supported" error. i also thought 4.8
could get ogr support for oracle
btw i got oracle 10 client (with tnsnames.ora) on 4.8 box. other than
returning multiple ora- errors, 4.8 also returns "web template
error" if i use /ignored-libmap/oracle10g/libmap.dll. this error is
even for only shapefile maps. error goes away when i switch back to
normal libmap.dll.

Your DATA statement is almost correct. If you are going to use the UNIQUE
keyword (for supporting queries), you must put a column name after UNIQUE
and before the SRID.

We are in transition from old ms 5.4 to new ms 6.0
We have successfully installed ms4w 3.0.6 and everything is working as

The only problem is opening shapefiles with ECW.

Sorry for the confusion. I have it untared as
C:\oatdir\nitelti020l.tar\nitelti020l.tif
I can view it and I am also able to load it in to qgis.

When you have a chance to package up 5.2 can you also include fribidi2
support in that. I have clients that interested in using it for Arabic
and you would make a bunch of people very happy if you can add that.

We removed ECW support from the MS4W suite back in 2009, due to
licensing restrictions. If you go to the MS4W issue tracker you can
research this in depth. However we do offer custom builds for ECW
support with MS4W, and you can contact me at any time if you require this.
