I had the same problem, and it turned out to be a bug
(http://trac.osgeo.org/mapserver/ticket/2655), which
is now resolved, so it should be OK in the upcoming
beta 3.

Great! Will make a build today and start testing. Do I have to use the
--with-experimental_png to include the qunatize support for AGG output, or
is this functionality now included as default?
