COURSE ANNOUNCEMENT

For the third year George Mason University (Fairfax, VA) will be running
its Marine Mammal Biology and Conservation Course.

Marine Mammal Biology and Conservation 
(3.0 credits lecture course; EVPP 490-001/ EVPP 505-001/ BIOL 507-001;
Mondays 4:30-7:10; January 23-May 15 2006)

This course covers the biology, ecology, behavior, conservation and
management of polar bears, sea otters, pinnipeds (seals, sealions and
walruses) and cetaceans (whales, dolphins and porpoises). In addition to
the course lectures there will be a visit to the Smithsonian Natural
History Museum and guest lectures by local marine mammal conservation
experts.

The course is available to upperclassmen and graduate students
(submitted work and the two written exams are graded at separate levels
for undergraduates and graduates). 

Students in VA, MD, PA and DC universities and colleges should speak to
their university administrators about taking this class for their degree
credit.

Individual marine mammal research project topics are also available at a
senior undergraduate and graduate level.
