I've been following the thread here on fascism as it relates to the situation
in the Ukraine.  Though the dynamics are completely different, aren't we seeing
all the needed elements for a fascist formation to develop in Venezuela?
Sections of the right-wing have given up on electoral politics. The monied
elite seems to be encouraging middle class and upper class youths exclusively
to take to the streets. The protests have been mainly contained within middle
and upper class communities. The violence has been against the working class.
The YouTube videos are showing the upper layers causing the disruption while
its been the poor removing the barricades and asking for the government to put
an end to it.

We also have the US government running out of options to assist the Right. They
took a blow to the chin from the OAS. All that's left are sanctions, which no
other country in the region will go along with and to finance rightists
mercenaries. The monied elite still haven't come up with a way to defeat the
masses when they decide to mobilize on defense of the democratically elected
government. That being said, isn't there enough for a fascist formation to
become a long standing threat in and out of the electoral process to the
current Venezuelan governments, the masses, and the programs they're supporting?

Jim Brash
