The left has quite rightly pointed out Marina Silva's evangelical base of support but it turns out that the PT has tapped the same vein in the past (the article was from 2010).

For Ms. Rousseff, evangelical voters' defection became the first major test of her ability to manage her political coalition. These supporters demanded clarity on issues like abortion. In a 2007 newspaper interview, she had said it is "absurd" that abortion is illegal, a statement that heartened her many feminist supporters. But in an Oct. 13 meeting in Brasilia with 51 religious leaders, she promised she wouldn't back initiatives to legalize abortion. She later put the commitment in writing.

On a recent Monday night in a working-class outskirt of Rio de Janeiro, Mr. Malafaia told some 3,000 worshippers spilling out of the aisles of his Assembly of God church that Ms. Rousseff had switched her abortion stance. The congregation responded with cries of "Alleluia!"
