Speaking to the young people at Camp Seliger, Putin remembered the
events of 1917 as a time when “some were shaking Russia from within, and
shook it to the point that Russia as a state collapsed and declared
itself defeated.” He likely meant it as a warning to those who might
try to “shake” today’s Russia. But he also spoke of the Bolsheviks’
”betrayal of the Russian national interests.” It was the Bolsheviks,
after all, who “wished to see their fatherland defeated while Russian
heroic soldiers and officers shed blood on the fronts of the First World
War.”

I suppose that this is consistent with the Donetsk People's Republic
militia being run by someone nostalgic for Czarism.
