Review of new book defending Howard Zinn against rightwing critics. I am not sure whether it answers people on the left like Michal Kazin who wrote that People's History was a "Manichean fable" or Harvard Professor and New Yorker magazine staff member Jill Lepore who wrote that "Instead of lionizing Andrew Jackson, he mourned the Cherokee. The problem is that, analytically, upending isn’t an advance; it’s more of the same, only upside-down."
