Thanks for that. I think Brown has a deep appreciation for big "C" Capital but
not little "c" capital, speculating that 'the “labor theory of value” no longer
explains the production of all wealth...' But Brown noted that global supply
chains are characteristic of world capitalism today, so why are the supply
chains globalized if not to exploit cheap labor? No doubt, cheap raw materials
and lax air, land and water pollution laws also cause supply chains to expand,
also in part because they get a free pass on the costs of the oceanic and
atmospheric damage that they cause.

I also think that the interview with the translator is worth reading,
https://groups.io/g/marxmail/message/32731.

Neither resemble the hatchet job from the NYT that TonyB posted,
https://groups.io/g/marxmail/message/32725.

In the article Charlie cites above, Brown writes "Especially since Marx joined
his contemporaries in differentiating humans from “nature” and followed
Aristotle and Hegel in casting us as bound to incessantly transform nature for
our own comfort and benefit..." This statement is ignorant of decades of work
studying Marx and Capital on the problems of nature, ecology and growth by
scholars like Foster, Bellamy, Gorz, and others. Instead, Capital is treated
like a work of art or a Thing of Great Beauty. Which in a sense, I guess is
also that.
