I ran simple cases on matlab using v5.1, and got the same errors for
situations 1 and 2. M-files are provided at the end, altered from test case
t_case9_dcline.

The bustypes() function expects the buses to be numbered consecutively
(internal bus ordering), so you have to convert to internal ordering first.

Is it possible to do equivalencing of big power systems using MATPOWER ?
I have IEEE 118 bus system where I have a study area which are separated by
interfaces. Would it be possible to get equivalent network with my study area
and equivalence of rest of the system ?
The latest version of MATPOWER has code for creating reduced equivalents of
larger networks. The code is in the ‘reduction’ folder in the extras directory.
