I'm still having problem using SAP DB 7.4 (UNICODE) odbc driver.
When database instance get down, the pending Statements become bad.
My application check odbc function return value. if a session break occurs,
it close statement (sometimes it hangs in SQLFreeHandle), then it tries to
reopen connect

if you really have sapdb-webtools-linux-32bit-i386-7_4_3_10 then the WebDAV GUI is not
working because it is not part of this release. WebDAV GUI is available with webtools
7.4.03.23 and newer. So please download the current webtools package from
www.sapdb.org. Its at patch level 30

Are you sure the webdav service can connect properly to the webdav database? (correct
user and password, database name and so on)

I got this message when I try to create an instance of the database from
the DBMGUI.
I tried both with max 7.5.05 and 7.5.08alpha on a Debian with a kernel
2.4.22-1-686-smp
but I always got the same message when I enter the system login and
password in wizard.

AFAIK not, but you can use the SAP DB JDBC driver unchanged on Mac OS
X if you only need access from Java apps.

the problem is that there is no database running that the XML Indexengine could
registered to. This behavior was changed lately and will be available with the next
patch release.
However, your MaxDB XML Index Engine should be installed, but not registered.
