Here are some patches for mc that SuSE has been applying for some time now
and which could possibly be included in the official mc:
mc-4.5.51-palmsupport.patch
Allows to transfer various files to a Palm by using pilot-xfer
and install-memo.

It implemented too but requires context default line in the
defines.syntax. Attached patch must be used with today's syntax.c.
Also defines variable should be moved to WEdit structure.
