I found an old link to similar symptoms, where a guy couldn't reproduce the
problem because he was running tmux.

So I tried it with st -e tmux and the problem no longer occurs, and the disk
drive no longer fills up with logs.

Does anyone else use st as a terminal? I have used it from urxvt, mrxvt,
lxterminal, ROXTerm, and others with only minor problems, but am having lots of
basic problems with MC under st as follows:
1. Clicking mouse on menu or options, column headings, or Function key buttons
doesn't work.
