groff. I consider this a good thing. Plus the user can override this,
but not the other way around.
I don't see a way to override this... As I've said before, viewing in
raw mode makes bzip'ed files unreadable.

Hello,
Another problem is in those errors coming up when exiting viewing
logrotated files (no matter in raw or processed form). Errors like
Cannot adjust line and cannot break line.
Something should be done.

only in man dirs rather then excluding log dirs?

The built-in editor works just fine with these files so the error (?)
is in the viewer code.
This problem came recently (within 2 months I think) because before my
recent upgrade of mc everything worked just fine.
