For more complex sorts you could set the mc sort order to Unsorted, then
F9, Command, External panelize, then a regular unix sort command like
ls | sort -t"_" -k3,3
let unix do the sort.

I have recently updated to version 4.8.1.3 on max OSX using macports
and ftp no longer works properly. Connections seem to work but
changing directories often fails, and am having all kinds of
erratic behavior. I have seen this on more than one
protocol with SSL-encrypted control channel
SFTP is SSH File Transfer Protocol, not related to traditional FTP
Nautilus on gnome with ubuntu supports sftp. But alas, nautilus is
not MC. I'm looking forward to mc sftp implementation.
