Folks,
compilation and installation of commit 801bab95 on my GNU/Linux box
using the standard incantation (./autogen.sh, ./configure; sudo make
install) was just fine, however, there are three issues, the first of
them serious.
(1) mc fails to find the resource directory if called for man

A similar problem is C-x t which no longer copies the tagged files

Changing the configure options to include --with-included-gettext
fixed it.
Indeed, this did the trick, thanks!

Folks,
something strange is going on. F2, F3, and F10 show no reaction.
However, `learn keys' indicates that all function keys are passed
through. For root I'm running version 4.6.2-pre1 (installed as an
openSuSE 11.2 RPM package), and everything works as expected.
Sounds like a nice feature for 4.7. Feel free to file a feature
request @ mc.o
BTW, in the last year there have been exactly eight commits to the mc
sources in the CVS repository. Is this correct? Or has mc be moved
to a different place? Perhaps it's time to really release 4.6.2...
Some time ago I was investigating the internal viewer code which
deals with man pages. I asked myself the same question and if I
remember correctly I found that invoking tbl is not necessary
since most processors already invoke it or something
As far as I know, `nroff' (which is used in
Is there any reason why you don't pipe man pages through tbl? To be
more precise, why don't you use the `man' program which normally can
handle this automatically (this is, recognizing the necessary
preprocessors based on the first line of the man page)?
If you don't like `man', I suggest that
Do you know where I can get the SuSE SRPM for MC ?

Agreed. It's a bug and bugs should be fixed.
Sorry. I was writing the above away from home, so I could not test it.

Currently, if a panel is sorted by access or change time, the third

Dear friends,
the correct abbreviation for kilobyte is `kB', not `Kb'! As a
consequence, in the panels you should show e.g. `12345k' instead of
`12345K'.
Another formatting bug: I see e.g. `1,234,567Kb bytes in 8 files'
which should be `1,234,567k bytes in 8 files'.
What about introducing
recent groff versions emit SGR escapes (aka ANSI color escapes)
for color support...
Just because it would be a simple solution for this problem, it
would not be a good solution. Would not it be possible to fool
users by making fake password prompts in ANSI codes?
??? Can you tell me
Is there a way of getting the viewer to display the
raw escape-codes in a file, like less -R?
No. It would create mess on the screen. It's explained in man less.
Mess on the screen is bad in a program that can easily delete whole
directories.
Hmm,
recent groff versions emit SGR
