*Position Description*



Implements and maintains smooth operation and physical design of databases.
Conducts performance tuning of indexes and databases in general. Reviews
database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery and
makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements. Maintains
security and integrity controls. Formulates policies, procedures, and
standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction
activity and utilization. Provides actionable recommendations for
improvements in application performance after analyzing underlying
database-related infrastructure components. Works closely with the Data
Architecture and Development teams to ensure databases across environments
are synchronized throughout the project life cycle.



*Roles and Responsibilities:*



·         Work is performed in the Development and Test environments

·         Designs, codes, tests, documents, implements and maintains
databases

·         Performs complex database analysis and design reviews

·         Research and fact-finding to develop or modify database structures

·         Provides support for database implementation and periodic
maintenance releases as required

·         Provides technical input to assist in development of tasks
related to Database Administration in a project plan

·         Perform Database maintenance and day to day activities to using
data base utility tools

·         Hands on experience coding JCL’s, parameters, load cards for
unloads, loads, load dummy etc.

·         Ability to run advisory analysis and test candidate indexes to
support and suggest query performance

·         Experience using Endevor for JCL builds for version control and
change management

·         Explain plans for application SQL and provide areas of
improvement to the development teams

·         Maintains RDBMS software at appropriate vendor-supported levels

·         Works closely with Central Database Administration team on
various items related to reviews, implementation, standards, compliance,
operational support, backup and disaster recovery



*Required Education and Experience*



·         Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, related field or
equivalent experience

·         10 plus years of experience in Information Technology with at
least last 4 years as a DBA in IBM DB2 on Z/OS

·         Demonstrated ability to tune complex database systems at the
application, database and system levels

·         Thorough knowledge of and experience with database security,
backup, recovery and archiving

·         Knowledge of and experience with Z/OS operating system,
utilities, file system, kernel, memory management & security on RDBMS

·         Knowledge and skills with IBM and third party products to
automate and facilitate database management

·         Demonstrated collaboration, facilitation, and cross functional
team skills

·         Experience with several RDBMS utility software like TOAD for DB2,
BMC, SPUFI, JCL, TSO

·         Must have or obtain within the first 6 months of hire, IBM
Certified Database Administrator - DB2 10 for z/OS or DB2 11 DBA for z/OS



*Desired Education and Experience*



·         Expert knowledge of IBM DB2 LUW and Oracle database
administration at the design, operational and system levels

·         Health Care and/or CMS experience

·         Experience/understanding of Tivoli scheduling tool

·         Understanding of PureXML with DB2 Z/OS
