Hi Jennifer,

With today's weather, I wish I was outside strolling the deCordova!
Any-who... many years back my previous company (an agency) worked with the
Neue Galerie (and others) to move from UberCart (on Drupal) to Shopify to
power their e-Commerce. Having dealt with UberCart and Shopify, I can
attest that your desire to move to Shopify is a well-supported one!

We handled the project in 2 phases to address initial urgency,
budget/timing, etc.
#1: was to get the new store launched on Shopify, quickly.
#2: focus on responsive / mobile/tablet-friendliness. (at that time,
traffic coming from non-desktop device (smartphone/tablet) was 26.87% and
the store wasn't responsive)
This was back in 2012 / 2013.

Pulled some quick notes from a review and on-going analysis we did to
monitor (and optimize) year after year, and included below.

• We focused on simplifying the user experience, general SEO, and such
resulting in much high conversion rates.
Within the first 90 days:
+80.7% higher online sales compared to the same period of the previous year
/ old store.

• We significantly increased the speed (load-time) by decreasing the "size"
by 83% and other methods.
Why? Drupal / UberCart can get bloated and slow... 40% of people abandon a
website that takes more than 3 seconds to load. And a 1 second delay in
page response can result in a 7% reduction in conversions.

Today, you can find general, easy-to-customize, responsive templates,
making the process of setting up the store fairly easy.

I'd point out is the data migration from UberCart to Shopify can be a bit
challenging. I'll look back at my notes to see what we did about that, if
you're interested. Also, one thing that is often missed in the process is
that the URLs for your products and categories are very likely to change
when moving from one system to the next. You'll want to have your developer
work some magic with .htaccess (or NGINX, depending how you're hosted) for
sake of SEO, getting the same URLs live, or redirecting properly so you
don't break any links.

Happy to chat or share more if I can be helpful!

Regards,
Brendan Ciecko
