MD: audition channel on sound cards?

Is there any inexpensive sound card that has an audition channel where I can play stuff that I hear but doesn't go in to the recording? Is there a way to make this happen with a sblive value? I know the what you hear option takes everything, but I know the disaster of clicking on audio
