MD: netmd release date

it just occured to me that i didn't remember seeing anything about when netmd was going to be released. anyone have any info on this or did i skip over that section? or will it be like so many other sony promises and become vaporware ---

These are optical cables for high speed computer switches/routers. (amongst other things) They do not use miniplug/toshlink connectors, instead they use something called ST, it has a locking ring something like a BNC connector. I believe AT&T had something to do with the design of this plug. T
