I think I answer this one every 6 weeks! Take exit E from the Mong Kok MTR
station, head to Nelson Street and walk on the right side past the big
multi-floor computer center another block to the basement of the Tak Fat
shopping arcade. There will be a dozen shops, some of which carry MD. My

I just repaired my ST-501 for $250. I didn't have much of a choice since the
unit is not available in USA and I have a lot ($150) of accessories for it
that wouldn't fit other players. The unit only cost me $199. Oh well.
Has anybody had any experiences
with Sharp and 702's as far as repai
I know of two companies which use 9/9/99 in the date field to mean 'no date

I sent an inquiry for a Sharp MD and got a 'how to order' answer within a
day. However, when I asked what kind of battery it took (twice!) I never got
an answer. I gather you will get your unit ASAP, but may not get any support
if you need help.

I have a pair of the over-the-head model that I bought in Japan before they
were available in the USA. They work really well if I hold the pads against
my ears in the proper way, but if I don't they don't really fit right, It's
like they were designed for ears with a much different configuration
Sharp Japan told Sharp USA that they should repair it for me. Unfortunately,
the cost is $128 parts, $100 labor and $20 shipping from LA back to me.
Total repair is $259 for a $199 unit. I don't think I'll do the repair, but

Mine goes tick-tick-tick-tick-tick (very soft and continuous),
TICK-TICK-TICK (3-4 times, loudly), tick-tick-tick-tick-tick, etc. so I

My Sharp 501 portable MD player bit the dust and Sharp USA won't repair it
because it is not a USA model. Any idea how I get it repaired? I don't mind
shipping it to Japan or Hong Kong (where I bought it) if someone can give me
an address and FAX number,
Thanks,
