MD: Entering service mode in Sony mds-ex770?

Hi, could anyone tell me how to enter service/test mode in a sony mds-ex770 minidisc component? It's not a deck, but part of a mini component system. I've tried it with the ams knob, but it's not possible to hold the ams knob in (you can't push it in). Thanks, Niels Schenk
