Hi, the subject kind of says it all really ! I have a Denon D-G1MD miniHiFi and a Sony MXD-D3 comboCD/MD. The Denon has intermittent drop-out and skipping on record and playback with HiSpace 80 (* ) but is OK with HiSpace 74 It will record and playback Maxell ProMD80 ok. The Sony is happy with all of them. In the dealers showroom I have been able to try another Denon on playback only and that also will not play the HiSpace80; also in the showroom another Sony and a Technics are both happy with the HiSpace80 on playback. I have not yet been able to try the Maxell in the showroom display models ( it was a last minute purchase of the Maxell to bring home -just to try- for this evening. ) The dealer is as mystified as I am and is checking with his technical people at Denon. He has offered money back or replacement, that is no problem, but we would like to know what is going on ! In all other respects the Denon is excellent. The bigger problem is that I like the jewel case that the HiSpace comes in !! :-)The other sleeve types are not so convenient to add slips of paper with extra notes. *ps The problem with the HiSpace80 only happens in the 70 to 80 minute region. Sometimes it is a momentry loss of audio, other times the playback will jump ahead a few minutes. Investigations continue ,,, I will be trying other brands of 80m over the next few days but any thoughts/experiences you have had would be interesting, thanks, Malcolm.
