While we are talking about portable CD with optical outs. Which of the Sony
ones turn on the optical out on battery power alone ?

THIS MODEL :SONY DE561 CD PLAYER WITH OPTICAL OUTPUT have a great
rechargeable battery... I have try to use it with my portable SHarp recorder
without problem... I have copy some CD (3 CD) in my car only with the
batteries... No skip, no problem... It was fine !!!

That is about what I paid for my Aiwa 5 disc
I'd rather have one of the units with both a CD player and MD recorder,
with digital recording...and, of course, at that price. wink
