MD: Solution to mp3 > md track marks?

My xwave 7100 card is now working fine. Now to get automatic track marks when doing mp3 > md via my optical out, can I write a small app to switch off the optical out between tracks, to force the md to start a new track? Or is this not such a good idea. I use a Jvc Xm-R70. Any other ideas? TIA
