The British National Party has accused the BBC of abusing its position after its leader and head of publicity were cleared of race hate charges stemming from an undercover documentary. The BNP leader, Nick Griffin, said the BBC could not take away his freedom, while the head of publicity, Mark Collett, described the corporation as "cockroaches". Mr Griffin was secretly filmed at a meeting in West Yorkshire in 2004 describing Islam as a "wicked, vicious faith" and said Muslims were turning Britain into a "multiracial hellhole". Pakistan's parliament has voted to amend the country's strict Sharia laws on rape and adultery. Until now rape victims had to have four male witnesses to the crime - if not they faced prosecution for adultery. The new bill allows prosecutions under secular rather than religious law. Religous parties boycotted the vote saying the bill encouraged "free sex". In that role, she hears many of the problems facing the women of her village. And she now contributes a weekly diary or weblog to the internet site of the BBC Urdu Service. "Mostly I talk about incidents which are cruel and painful. I try to discuss only the most serious things in my blog: the poor treatment of women, sometimes leading to killing," she says. Mukhtar Mai's blog is unique. Although she cannot read or write, she tells her stories to a local BBC journalist, who types it up as a web diary. >From then onwards she has been determined to bring them to justice, and her fight made her an international figure. Some of the men she said attacked her were convicted, but then the appeal court in Lahore overturned their convictions, amid an outcry from human rights groups. selengkapnya di http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/5323858.stm
