I'm running 1.16, and the FCKEditor extension is working fine.
Hugo, do you use the $wgExtensionAssetsPath setting in your LocalSettings?
With this setting in use, I still had to create a symlink to the FCKEditor
directory, as I don't store extensions underneath /mediawiki/extensions/.

I'm trying to find an extention that allows wikidot style headertabs but the
one I got only allows one per page. Is it possible to have more than one
group of tabs per page?

There isn't that option. You can get a daily digest or you can get
all the messages to the list.

I just found out that wikipedia extended there editor too. They have
additional buttons, for example to avoid wiki-formatting.
The strange thing is that there Vector.js does not need any customisation:
