WorkingWiki [1] is not a lightweight tool, and needs you to be
assertively in control of your site's security, but can definitely do
this. You would just need to add a one- or two-line make rule to your
wiki page.

Did you take a backup before running cleanupCaps.php? If you did
take one, you may be able to undo the damage by restoring from backup
and changing $wgCapitalLinks back to true.

FYI: The WorkingWiki extension [1] can be used to plug in any number of
math systems into a MW wiki, including Sage, Octave, Mathematica, etc.
For instance, one you install WW and add a simple makefile rule of the form

WorkingWiki does substantially more than translate math expressions, but
it should be possible to create an inline-math-only option if there was
demand.
