So to be more specific, if I want to help the Tablet UX now to fix
browsing gmail and Facebook and to perhaps use one of the ideapad's
display buttons as the home button rather then the windows key, whom
do I talk to, how do I start? Where can I get a mentor?

I think this is a great idea.
I would like to see developer 'courses' created based on core topics.
My suggestion is to build courses based on the following:
* Basics / Starting with MeeGo
* Audio & Video
* Data Management
* Graphics & Animation
* Gaming
* Networking & Internet
* Performance Tuni
