Hi all, I just created a couple of wiki pages related to the wiki maintenance for meego.com.
To cut a long story short, I was asked this morning by lbt to grant him sysop permission, and I realised that there's little or no documentation about sysops or wiki maintenance right now. So I got some started. http://wiki.meego.com/Wiki_sysops http://wiki.meego.com/Wiki_gardening The wiki sysops page lists all of the current sysops, and the list of stuff that only sysops can do, and also how you become a sysop. I didn't know if there's a better way to put it than "Ask, we'll chat amongst ourselves, and get back to you", but I don't really know how else we could do it. I did want to insist on the fact that for 80 to 90 percent of the wiki maintenance tasks you don't need any special permissions - I created the wiki gardening page to co-ordinate wiki gardeners to help prune, weed and plant the wiki garden. Most of the tasks (such as making sure there are no orphan pages or broken redirects) can be done by anyone - only deleting or protecting pages and reverting spam edits is something that needs to be done by a sysop. Feedback welcome, and of course, volunteers for wiki gardening are most welcome. Cheers, Dave. -- Email: dne...@maemo.org Jabber: bo...@jabber.org nea...@gmail.com _______________________________________________ MeeGo-community mailing list MeeGo-community@meego.com http://lists.meego.com/listinfo/meego-community
